Frequently asked questions
Gear That Helps You Get Started — and Keep Going
You do not need a garage full of equipment to begin the Mental Health Warrior Sandbag Workout.
At its core, you need a sandbag, something to fill it with and a route where you can safely move. But over time, I have found that a few well-chosen pieces of gear can make the workouts more comfortable, more practical and easier to stick with.
Below are products I recommend because they fit the way this workout is designed to be used — simple, durable and built for real-life training.
Remember: you do not need everything listed here to get started. Start with what fits your budget, your fitness level and your goals — then build from there.

SANDBAG
I like Rogue Fitness sandbags because they are built to handle real use.
They are made with durable materials, strong stitching and sturdy handles that hold up well to repeated carries, outdoor workouts and regular training.
They are more expensive than many basic sandbags, but if you plan to make sandbag workouts a long-term part of your routine, I believe the durability can make the investment worthwhile.
For me, it comes down to reliability — I want a sandbag I can grab, carry and use again and again without worrying about it falling apart.

GLOVES
Workout gloves can make a big difference when carrying and working with a sandbag.
They help provide a better, more secure grip, especially once your hands start getting sweaty. That means less slipping and more control when holding the bag or using the handles.
Gloves also add a layer of protection between your hands and the sandbag. Over repeated workouts, that can help reduce rubbing, irritation and the wear and tear that comes from gripping rough material and handles for long periods of time.
For me, gloves make the workout more comfortable, improve my grip and help protect my hands so I can keep focusing on the workout — not sore palms.
